Sticks and Stones
A private road 4-stories above this stunning beach front property provides its only access, so the design took much careful consideration, as structural elements were largely demanded by the challenges of the landscape. Site complexity birthed necessity for creating a lasting aesthetic, glass and neutral finishes will stand the test of time. The main level features concrete floors, so the warmth of hemlock is taken to the ceiling, this reverse application means both last forever. Windows and sliding glass doors span the entire greatroom for unobstructed views and spectacular natural lighting. A two-story fireplace provides the living area’s focal point and balances the stone columns at the home’s entry. Everyday comfort is not forsaken in this fashionable home; a unique T-shaped island provides casual kitchen seating while allowing maximized storage from both sides. Minimal style is maintained in paneled appliances and hidden pantry elements within the clean lines of the millwork. The upper floor’s bridge, connects bedrooms with the gym, while keeping the home bathed in sun, glass railings ensure view and light are unobstructed. The home harmoniously integrates into its beach locale and honours the character of its steep site; remaining unassuming from the upper roadway but a beautiful jewel to behold from the water side.
