As a Chilean Architect with over 30 years’ experience across Canada and worldwide, Ignacio’s work has encompassed designing all styles and sizes of custom homes, renovations to existing homes, and tenant improvement projects. Ignacio’s education from Universidad de Chile and experience since, have developed his design philosophy; architecture is a beautiful art form, holding the balance to maintain well-being for its occupants.

He has overseen the development of multiple design firms where he not only enjoys creative work, but leadership in mentoring designers, and encouraging them to see their full potential. Ignacio practices ongoing learning, to keep his skills and knowledge current, exemplifying the notion that an ever-changing mindset is something that our industry must embrace. 

When designing for clients he knows that putting their dreams and needs first means that great ideas and innovative designs will follow. His ability to think outside the box has always helped them arrive at something really special and has put him at the top of his field. His calm and forward-thinking approach as well as his sense of humor give Ignacio a fun, confident demeanor that make him a pleasure to work with.

At SGDI Ignacio manages the Architectural Design Team – leading with expertise to ensure that the homes are planned in best possible execution of the clients’ vision, while ensuring that they fit the parameters required to clear all the hurdles involved in the preparation stages of the project – a most important part of bringing the home to life!

When he’s not having fun designing, Ig enjoys the beauty of the west coast, taking in nature while flyfishing and mountain bike riding. He also takes great pride and pleasure in serving others through his involvement with a disaster response team, his volunteer time and work as a responder aids worldwide environmental distress issues.
